Update since the fundraiser

We are pleased to report that we have donated to 8 local families in the past 3 months (26 to date). We have also made a large donation of gift cards, batteries, toys and necessities to the Ronald McDonald House as well as craft kits, craft supplies, 6 tvs, and a monetary donation to the Bravery Bead Fund at McMaster Children’s Hospital to benefit many families there. We will be dropping off an ATV to Camp Trillium in the next few weeks to help with their families there. Once again, thank you to all of our supporters, without you, none of this would be possible.

Miss Dar’s School of Dance acknowledges one dancer by giving them a scholarship for the following year’s dance tuition in memory of Alivia. This dancer possesses qualities of a great friend. I was honoured to be able to present Avery Ferguson with this year’s scholarship at the 25th annual recital on Friday, May 11th, 2013. Thank you so much to Miss Dar for honouring Alivia this way. It means a lot to me and my family.

The hugely sought after gorgeous gazing balls are in the works again. Gramma Janey Burns is busy in her garden creating some amazing and unique gazing balls to support may children’s cancer organizations, including Alivias Rainbows. Each ball takes roughly 14 hours to make and is $75.

What an amazing night!

On Sat, Feb.23, 2013, we held our 3rd annual fundraiser. With so much hard work and dedication of so many wonderful people we were able to raise over $40,000. Thank you so much to everyone in attendance as well as those who couldn’t come but supported us anyway. Your generosity continues to amaze us.

Our committee consisted of Chantal and Craig Vanderklei, Char and John Eldridge, John and Jen Pennacchio, Marcel and Priscilla Longpre, Sarah James, Melissa Lee, Cathy Clarkson, Meredith Lee, Bernie Tessier and Mathieu Vanderklei. Thank you so much to the large number of volunteers that helped make the night go smoothly, especially the Lakeshore Catholic football team who helped immensely with set up. We are also extremely grateful to the huge donations received from such generous people to make our baskets better than ever.

We look forward to start planning next years event soon.

The Hill family hosted a pasta dinner in November on what would have been Kelsey’s 14th birthday.
With a great turnout and wonderful prizes they had a very successful evening.

FESS donates to Alivia’s Rainbows!

Every little bit helps.

In the last year, Alivia’s Rainbows has raised over $50,000 for its cause, which supports Niagara families who have to make frequent trips to the pediatric oncology ward at McMaster’s Children’s Hospital.

On Tuesday, the local charity received a $616 donation from Fort Erie Secondary School, raised by over 20 male staff members who grew moustaches for ‘Movember’.

Thanks to Janey Burns, a.k.a. Griffin’s grandma. She has been working tirelessly to make some beautiful gazing balls found in many gardens all over. For each ball made, it is roughly 10 hours of labour. She has graciously donated all her time so that she can donate to Alivia’s Rainbows.

We thank her so much for all the love she puts into each ball. They really are spectacular.
